What is your EQ (Emotional Quotient)?
Hello all! I welcome you once again to
another blog post. First, I wish you & your family, near – dear ones a
fulfilling, sweet & safe Diwali.
I’m happy to present another
insightful, awakening story to you all today. So that you can celebrate the rest
of the festive season & life ahead with a high EQ & not just the IQ.
Ms. Preeti was sitting at her desk in
the office. She was working to finish some urgent submission. After a short
while, at about 10 a.m. her colleague, Ms. Urmi too reached the office. And
then, both of them started deciding about the changes to be made in the
presentation which would be held the next day.
The discussion about the presentation
went on fine for quite a long time. And at about 11:00 a.m. Preeti & Urmi
started for the canteen to have breakfast. Meanwhile, Preeti started feeling
uneasy. She felt giddy. Preeti was about to drop down, but, Urmi came running
from behind & held her. Urmi immediately gave her water & the regular medicine.
After a few minutes, Preeti felt fine. She was comforted & felt happy to
have a concerned colleague like Urmi.
When Urmi started helping Preeti to get
up, Preeti suddenly remembered that Urmi’s meeting with the visiting delegation
of Senior Managers was pre-scheduled & would begin within the next 20
minutes. So, she reminded Urmi about it. Urmi smiled & replied, “Preeti, I
surely remember the meeting. But, it is after 20 minutes. And how could I leave
you in trouble?” Preeti said, “But, you are the senior manager. Our boss would
be angry if you delay for the meeting!” By then, Preeti & Urmi had reached
the office cabin where Urmi worked. And still 15 minutes were left for the
meeting to start. Urmi helped Preeti to enter the cabin, made her rest there on
a cushioned chair, gave her own tiffin to Preeti to eat & replied, “Dont’
worry, take care. I felt that comforting you was more important than running
for the meeting. See you later.” Then, Ms. Urmi, the Senior Manager of the
company patiently left for the meeting, leaving a smile on Preeti’s face.
So, the EQ or emotional quotient of
Ms. Urmi counted enormously in such a situation. And I think, it is the most
important quotient which needs to be developed by each one of us. Because, it weighs
by far from IQ (Intelligence Quotient), high salary & top corporate
position. Money is surely an important aspect of anyone’s life but understanding
someone’s emotions & being aware of one’s own emotions is much more
important in our life.
So, friends, if you earn more and more
money, you’ll become rich but, you’ll become super-rich when you’ll win peoples’
hearts with your kindness, compassion & sensitiveness. The wealth that you’ll
accumulate after winning hearts would certainly weigh more than any wealth in
this world. So, please try and balance your EQ and daily priorities like job,
career & higher studies. Because, when you’ll be thirsty, you’ll need ‘someone’
to give you water & you can’t drink currency notes instead of water.
Take care, be sensitive & thank
you for reading.
Meet you soon on next weekend!!

How I improved myself!
Hello and welcome friends to a new blog post!
Today, I will be narrating one of the real stories of my
life: It is about self – improvement.
I was very shy and introvert during my school days. I hardly
used to interact or communicate with anybody except my parents, relatives &
a close class mate. At times, I used to be afraid of speaking to any stranger
or any new person. I was so quiet that my class teacher had to search me while
she marked the class attendance everyday as she couldn’t hear my voice. So, it
was difficult for her to spot me & didn’t know whether I’m present in the
class or not.
Moreover, I was unable to speak and write an English
sentence during the English language sessions in my school. Not only this, but
also, I struggled extremely with English Grammar. Today, it is unbelievable,
yet, I believe it that I graduated with English Literature & am able to
communicate fluently with any person ranging from the age group of 1 &
onwards.
Do you want to know how it all happened? Here is the answer.
I used to solve the Grammar tests that my teacher (English
language) offered me after school hours. I read English newspapers &
watched English news. Another important habit that another English language
teacher of mine told all of us to follow was to refer a dictionary. So that we
could find an unknown word in it & read as well as remember its meaning. So,
obviously I followed her advice. And since then, till date I always refer a
dictionary if I face any new word while reading or hearing someone.
Later, I started watching and reading interviews of several
acclaimed, renowned, knowledgeable personalities through the interview shows
featured on T.V. & those broadcasted through radio channels. So, it really
added massively to & enhanced my previous knowledge.
During my under graduate phase i.e. prior to applying for a
BA (Bachelor in Arts) degree programme, I participated in personality contests
and essay or literary competitions. As a result, I accustomed myself to new people, new challenges in life.
Later, when I started my college life as a first year student until the stage
of acquiring a BA degree, I enrolled myself for programmes of personality enhancement
& communication skills.
Another interesting fact was that I didn’t at all know how
to start a computer!! Today, it is again unbelievable that I’m successfully a
student of a Master degree programme of Educational Technology. Now how all
this happened is: my father Mr. Sanjeev Tipnis home schooled me for learning internet & I learnt
to write emails, plus the basic functions of a PC by observing him &
querying all the time about different controls on the keyboard. I also
completed a basic course of computers during my studies in Junior college
(Under graduate level). Then, I started using internet during my under graduate
studies to compose relevant knowledge related to my subjects. Now, that I have
started blogging during my post graduation is itself a proof that I have become
tech savvy. Of course, I’m eager to dive deep into the ocean of internet &
technology from here onwards. In addition to this, the decision of opting for a Master degree
programme of 2 years was indeed mine.
Therefore, after looking back, I feel very happy, thankful & grateful that I was guided by the people in my life in the right direction.
Also, the fact that I guided & improved myself also satisfies me; and
motivates me to improve myself daily - knowledge-wise and technology-wise. I’m
certainly not bragging or boasting of myself when I say so. I want to convey to
you all that always continue to learn, upgrade & develop yourself with your
own support & with the support, guidance of your 'TRUE' well wishers too.
So, I wish you all the best for life. And surely keep on IMROVING YOURSELF ALWAYS!!
Thank you. Meet you all soon on next weekend.

Essential online etiquettes - Netiquettes
Hello friends!!
I welcome you to another blog post.
We all are used to attending social gatherings– like
house warming ceremony, marriage ceremonies & several other auspicious
occasions, aren’t we? We wear specific attires or clothes which are suitable
for these occasions. We purchase sweets, cloth pieces & essential table top
or decorative objects & gift them to the family members who host these
occasions. Why do we do so? Because, it is an etiquette or mannerism which is to be followed during social ceremonies or occasions. Also, it is considered
acceptable as well as mandatory to follow these social etiquettes.
The Golden Rules of Netiquettes
·
avoid typing emails with ALL CAPITALS.
·
check your tone, means donot become angry
or rude while interacting online.
·
avoid typing emails with first person. For
example, 'I completed the work.' Instead of it, utilize indirect speech or
inclusive pronouns & then type: 'We completed the work' or 'The work has been
completed by me.' Whenever, indirect speech or inclusive pronouns are included, the
email and your attitude sounds very humble.
Some more important netiquettes:
·
Always mention the subject of your email in
the subject line. Because, it is important to gain the attention of the
receiver to read your email.
·
Use plain font sizes like - Sans Serif 3 if
you wish to type directly in the email space. If you want to type first in a
Word document & then paste the text in the email space, then, use Times New Roman font with 12 point size.- State the purpose of your email, initially i.e. in the first 2 to 3 lines of the email.
- After including the email id of main receiver in the ‘To’ space, type the names of other receivers, if any, in BCC bar (Blind Carbon Copy) to protect their privacy.
- Ensure accurate punctuation & spelling in your email before sending it off. Because, it will enhance your online image.
- Avoid typing short forms like asap/ fyi. You can type these if the receiver knows them. Instead, you can type the full forms, which are ‘As soon as possible’ & ‘for your information’, respectively.· Ensure compatibility of attachments with the software of the receiver. For example: check whether an attachment with pdf format can be opened by the receiver. Please clarify these formats by emailing about it to the receiver before sending attachments. Always scan any type of attachment with antivirus software packages prior to sending it.
· ‘Share’ your photos online instead of attaching them; because, attached photos would consume lot of time to be downloaded by the receiver.· Compress photos/images which are more than 5 MB· Donot forward an individual’s email without his/her permission. If permitted, you should mention the purpose of that email before forwarding it to someone else.· Avoid swearing means donot type the objectionable or “bad words” while interacting online. Please remain silent if you tend to throw such unpleasant words in your email, online forums, discussion forums or in the comment boxes of some websites and blogs.· Avoid flaming = deliberate insult & avoid trolling = sparking arguments online. These two behaviours are strictly against netiquettes.· Donot forward chain letters. For example: Hoax chain letters which promise attractive amount of money, Urban Legend letters that display a mythical story & tempt you to forward it to 10 or 20 others to achieve good luck and also do not forward letters which compel you to forward them by threatening you.The snapshots of 3 types of chain letters - Hoax, urban legend & life threatening respectively, are shown below:

Life threatening chain letter · Donot share sensitive information like login/user ids, passwords & contact numbers of your trustworthy contacts with third parties or your other connections & contact persons. Please read the information from following web links which were referred by me before composing today’s post:Ehow.com:What is the golden rule of netiquetteWhat Is Web Netiquette?List of netiquette breachesTypes of chain lettersYoutube.com:Please paste these video links alongwith their titles & then play them. What is Netiquette & Why is it Important?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvkbDc1LiVI by Docstoc TVHow to follow proper netiquette rules?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dRoclqDJh0 by Howcast.comWriting 101: 1st, 2nd and 3rd PersonHope you would sincerely follow these netiquettes.
